Hockey India League (HIL) has hired Meridian Communication and both part of Ogilvy Mather Worldwide, to handle its digital and launch campaign duties. The agency’s Mumbai office won the account after a multi agency pitch held in Delhi a few months ago.

The agency has been appointed for HIL’s launch campaign. “Meridian and OgilvyOne will work together on this account. It will be an integrated campaign,” says Samrat Bedi, head of office, Meridian Communications, Mumbai.

While OgilvyOne will be instrumental in creating the social media campaign that will play a critical part in the league’s launch in mid January, 2013, Meridian will create New Balance Shoes above the line (ATL) activities such as radio, pr New Balance Shoes int and outdoor launch campaigns. The television campaign is under review, since ESPN STAR Sports will broadcast the league matches. “We are also working on the look and feel, in terms of design, of the stadium,” Bedi informs.

And, Meridian had an edge over others since its creative team has worked on the last five seasons of IPL. “The experience we gained from IPL worked to our advantage,” Bedi adds. The communication for HIL will begin about four weeks before the first match.

Atlanta based Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) was No. 1 in baggage fees last year, generating $865.9 million. A post merger American Airlines would likely top that figure.

According to the data, airlines made $3.5 billion in baggage fees and $2.6 billion in reservation cancellations and change fees in 2012, up 3.8 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively, from 2011, according to the Bureau of Tran New Balance Shoes sportation Statistics.

Overall, the nation’s Top 15 airlines collected made more than $6 billion in baggage and reservation change fees last year, the DOT said. That’s the equivalent of about $20 from every man, woman and child in the country.
